Mission

To strengthen the professional capacities and leadership of women magistrates, create a space of solidarity and intergenerational mentorship, guide young girls toward excellence, and carry out legal awareness and education actions in service of the rule of law. AFMEED acts in a spirit of construction, not of protest, and works with male magistrates who share the same vision within the framework of positive masculinity.

Vision

We believe that a strong justice system needs strong, well-equipped women, for, as Simone de Beauvoir said: “To will oneself free is also to will others free.” By training women magistrates, we free ourselves. By protecting women and girls, we free society. This is our will, to promote the rule of law.

Values

Excellence, integrity and independence; solidarity and transmission across generations; the magistrate’s responsibility and ethics; protection of women and girls; construction rather than protest. These values guide every training, every field action and every public statement of the Academy.

History

AFMEED was born from the determination of women magistrates to restore the long-tarnished image of the justice sector in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Far from competing with existing associations, it was founded with a distinctive vision: to bring together, within a multi-generational structure of national reach, the elders who contribute experience and wisdom, the peers who share the same challenges, and the young magistrates who bring new energy.
